Rags to Riches | Headboard

Last year I made a headboard, all by myself!, and because I wanted something bright in my bedroom, I painted it sunshine yellow:

At the new place, however, I decided on a peaceful, monohromatic look and painted it charcoal. But I also wanted it to have a feminine touch, so I got these pretty, white, ruffle sheets and grey linen covers. I'm thinking of replacing the euro shams with ruffle ones.. what do you think? And the faux fur pillow adds another soft touch to the hard lines of the headboard. I originally purchased it for the white sofa in the living room, but I think it's perfect here!

After I put everything together, it looks great! But also feels a bit cold.. I need to unpack my silhouette and cut some pretty vinyl for the headboard.. in green or yellow for a pop of color!

These are my favorites from pinterest.. now to pick just one...

Still need to add some pretty curtains, build the bed (maybe add a ruffle skirt?), and makeover the night stands, lamps, dresser, and desk to complete the room!

Update 1.15.18

I couldn't wait anymore to build a bed frame so I ended up purchasing a metal one and added a white gathered bed skirt. The bed frame sits 14 inches off the floor so it has tons of storage space underneath.. here's a link to the one I got on Amazon: Zinus 14 Inch SmartBase Platform Bed Frame

I replaced the white euro shams with kelly green ones (favorite color of both Mr. Chickadee and myself).. and the faux fur pillow ended up going to the white sofa like I originally planned.. I found a kelly green sequence pillow instead.

Once I was able to refinish the nightstands, I added pretty lamps, a few other decorative and reading items, and made the chalkboard signs. Pop on over here to see how I transformed the nightstands.

Oh and we had this black brown storage bench that I accidentaly got pain on, so I sewed a cover for it out of canvas drop cloth. Now I want to purchase some kind of plants for the empty corners.. I'm really liking the look of snake plants.
