Rags to Riches | Photo Frames

I like to display these older photos in our home.. they are of Mr. Chickadee and myself in our younger years.. and they've been in this frame for ages! Wasn't Mr. Chickadee such a cute toddler?! (Top left) And the bottom left, is the photo I was shown before we met.. sooo not what he looked like when we did meet.

Since I discovered what my decorating style is, I decided I wanted to change it up a bit and add that farmhouse charm to them.

So I went and bought a bunch of small frames from the local Goodwill, they range from $0.95 to $2.95.. I wasn't sure what I wanted so I took all the cute little frames they had haha.

The first thing I did was dismantle everything and wipe with a tack cloth to get rid of any dust.

Then I applied a primer and let it dry.

And this is where I started getting overwhelmed and decided to work only on the 6 that I needed. I gave the frames a few coats of chalk paint, drying between each coat and then sealed with a polyclyric protective finish in satin.

Here they are completed, assembled, and set on the ladder shelf...

Looks much better! But feels like something is missing. What do you think?

  1. Great transformation! They look so good!
I would say either weathering the frames a bit or adding a little more pops of color would be a good addition. It looks great, though!
