Chocolate Sausage

What? You've never heard of or had chocolate sausage?

You're missing out!!!

I'm going to tell you right now that this is not a healthy-good-for-you dessert, but it is oh so good for your taste buds!! So I make it maybe once or twice a year.. balance haha!

Ok here is what you need..

This recipe does not have to be followed to a T,
so don't worry abut making sure it's measured exactly.
Add a little more, add a little less, and just have fun with it!
  • 2 bars of chocolate, about 5.5 oz each, I prefer Aldi's chocolate
  • 1 stick of butter (I'm not a kerrygold fanatic lol)
  • 1/2 cup of chopped crackers, my favorite are animal and graham crackers, some have used kix cereal
  • 1/2 cup of chopped nuts, I like walnuts
  • 1/2-1 cup of mini marshmallows

Here is what you do:

  1. Melt the chocolate and butter together on low heat, mixing very often, scraping the bottom to prevent chocolate burn.
  2. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly, to where you can dip your finger and not burn yourself. If you don't cool it, the marshmallows will start to melt.
  3. Add the crackers, nuts, and marshmallows. Mix well.
  4. Lay out a long piece of plastic wrap and spoon out the chocolate mix.
  5. Using the plastic wrap, form the mixture into a log, then wrap the plastic wrap around itself.
  6. Place sausage seam side down and tuck the ends under, refrigerate for at least half an hour.
  7. Remove from plastic wrap, cut into thick slices, and serve!

Melt & Cool
I doubled the recipe for a party, that's why you're seeing more chocolate and butter.
Then split the mixture into two "sausages".

Add & Mix

Shape & Refrigerate

Cut & Enjoy!

  1. oh my goodness! This was the childhood treat that turned all those cardboard-like cookies from the soviet stores into pure yumminess! Will have to do this with my kiddoes.
