Why God Made Mothers

I was reading answers given by 2nd grade schoolchildren to the following questions and I thought they were so interesting and funny. I wanted to know what my children's answers would be
so I asked them :)

Why did God make mothers?
Simon (9.5, 4th grade): Without mothers there would be no people.
Stanley (7, 2nd grade): To make sure their children not have too much candy and not play too much video games and not watch too much movies.
Thaddeus (5, pre-k): To make babies.

Jo-Ann Fabrics and Aprons

I got a job at Jo-Ann Fabrics!!!!

     I am so excited to be able to work in one of my favorite stores! About a month ago I found out that my local Jo-Ann's was hiring, I went straight to my computer to apply!! I had an interview almost immediately and then after filling out and signing a bunch of paper work online, I was hired!!

     I have worked a few shifts already, one of them being on Black Friday Morning, and am having tons of fun!

     Part of the Jo-Ann Fabrics uniform is to wear an apron. Although they do provide one for you, it's just a plain green apron with their logo on it, I was told we could make our own! Provided, of course, that we use current Jo-Ann's fabric and that the colors go with the season. Right now the season is Christmas/winter so I made myself this pretty and reversible apron:

Better Broccoli Cheese Soup Than Panera

I love Panera's broccoli cheese soup, but don't get to go there often {it has been a few years}

One day last month, I decided to make some at home. And this is the result..
Either it has been too long since I've eaten broccoli cheese soup or this is better than Panera!
Make it and decide for yourself :)

Delicious Home Made Sour Cream

My mom has been making her own sour cream for a few years now and it is soooo good!
I asked her to show me how she makes it and here is the process :)

You just need 2 ingredients... heavy whipping cream and Greek yogurt. That is it!

I am not superwoman

     More than once I have been told that I must be superwoman. I have five children, home school, cloth diaper, make my own laundry soap, crochet, sew, blog, etc.. etc.. Honestly, I cringe inside when I hear it. Because I am not superwoman, I am far from it.

Flying with a toddler

     When we moved to Minnesota, Mr. Chickadee had to go back to Missouri to take care of some business. A couple of weeks ago, Avigail and I, flew back to Missouri to join Mr. Chickadee and take care of some loose ends. My brother in law came along to be our traveling companion and to help Mr. Chickadee with some heavy lifting.

     When people first saw me with a toddler, I could tell they were thinking, "Great! There's a baby on board and it's going to be a long flight."

Moving to Minnesota!

      We did it. On July 4th, we FINALLY moved to Minnesota! Closer to my family, well so close that we moved in with them while we look for a place of our own. Mr. Chickadee has been offered a job already, and although he's really not wanting to work construction anymore, work is work, and it is a good paying job with room to grow.

     My parents own a 4 bedroom home; 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room, and kitchen on the main floor, and 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and another living room in the basement. So how were we able to fit my parents, younger brother, us, and all of our stuff?

Clothing Overload!!!

WE HAVE TOO MUCH CLOTHES!!!!

      Why? Why do we have so much clothes?? Yes there are 7 of us, but from the looks of it, you would think there were 50 of us! I though I would take some photos of all the clothes we have, whether they were in a closet, box, or shelf, and share them with you. But I have to say, I am quite embarrassed. So much so, that I can't even share the photo's without having a panic attack!

Care Instructions {for crocheted items}

Hand washing crocheted items is highly recommended as it will keep them looking like new.

{And a must for wool items!}

Fill sink with cool water and a very small amount of mild detergent or dishwashing liquid {I like to use Dawn Original for acrylics/cottons and hair shampoo for wool items}.
Gently agitate the item in the water. Never wring or scrub.

Happy New Year!!!

     Hello blog world! I am back, with a few changes. But first... Where did I leave you? Oh yes, Fly Lady. I am going to be honest with you, the last time I followed Fly Lady, was when I last posted about it. It was just not working for me. There are days when my baby's needs trump that of a need to have a shiny sink. And after taking care of my baby's needs, the last thing I want to do is wash dishes. So instead of staying up late washing dishes, I go to bed and wash them the next day. Don't get me wrong, I did not abandon cleaning and washing dishes. I just do it in my own way. On my own time. Some times it gets done, and some times it doesn't, but life is not about keeping up with a pristine house, is it?
