Moonglow: A Glimmer I Didn’t Expect to Find

When The Nighthawk and I got married, we were given a wedding gift of a hotel stay out of town. While exploring the area during our stay, we wandered into a little shop where I found myself drawn to a display of moon necklaces by Moonglow. Out of pure curiosity, I looked up my birthdate, and it turns out I was born on a full moon! The description of a full moon birthday really resonated with me. It said that people born under this moon are selfless, generous, and pour their hearts into everything they do. I wasn’t planning on buying anything, but something about that moment felt meaningful, and I couldn’t walk away.

On the drive home, my thoughts drifted to something I hadn’t really put together before. My Netflix profile has been “Mama Moon” for years, a nickname one of the chickadees gave me. Just recently, I named my new-to-me car Luna, almost without thinking. And then it hit me ~ my own name actually means “bright one.” It all felt connected in a way I hadn’t noticed until now.

This quiet realization became one of those unexpected glimmers ~ a gentle light reminding me of the thread weaving through my life, steady and bright, even when I don’t always see it.

I’ve never really followed astrology, but all of this made me pause. These little moon moments have been scattered throughout my life, and somehow they’re all coming together now.

Just like the moon, our lives move in cycles… phases of fullness and light, and phases of shadow and stillness. The moon doesn't resist its dark nights or cling to its brightest ones… it simply is, constant in its presence, whether we see it or not. When we embrace this rhythm in our own lives, we stop fearing the darker moments. We begin to understand they are part of the whole… necessary, temporary, and rich with quiet wisdom.

Perspective shifts everything… the new moon isn't gone, it's simply hidden. And so are we, at times, gathering strength, healing, growing in the unseen. The moon reminds us that we, too, can shine fully again… and again… and again.
